Heel Pain & Inflammation Treatment
Visit Advanced Foot & Ankle
Pain in the heel can take many forms, but the two most common are plantar fasciitis and Achilles tendinitis. Plantar fasciitis occurs when the band of tissue that runs along the base of the foot becomes inflamed and when pressure is applied, it sends a sharp pain to the bottom of the heel.
Achilles tendinitis occurs when the affected area, specifically the ankle joint and Achilles tendon, are being overused. The back of the heel swells, feels tender, and due to a lack of blood flow, it takes a long time to recover.
Inflammation in the heel can be triggered by:
- Long periods of standing
- Unhealthy impact pressure
- Consistent intense exercising
